Live Bands

I started my first band when I was 10 years old. Playing with other musicians is what I have done from the very beginning. All the bands I offer are seasoned wedding professionals, having played in the industry for more than 10 years.

Solo Musician

I moved to Spain in 2006 and quickly realised that a lot of the live music venues here are smaller than those I was used to in the UK. My solo set was born out of wanting to be able to play live more frequently. I love playing live and would love to perform at your event!

Equipment Hire

Do you have musician friends who are part of your wedding party and want them to be able to provide the music for your special day? That's fine too! You can hire all the gear you need, including mics, guitars and speakers for background music.

My Story

I am a British musician based on the south coast of Spain. I moved here with my family back in 2006 and have been working on building my reputation as a live performer ever since. I pride myself on being punctual and professional but not your typical “Cheesy” wedding act. My solo show includes

a loop pedal which allows me to record what I’m playing “on the fly” to create the illusion of being accompanied by a band. My bands are all very much geared towards weddings and private events with regards to their set lists and the other musicians I play with are also seasoned wedding professionals.

Geckoblaster is the newest of the acts that I offer. Created at the tail end of 2021, the idea was to form the ultimate party band which can play a multitude of styles and offer the best music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s, leaving room for the hits of the last decade too. 

The setup for Geckoblaster comprises of guitars, keys, bass and drums, fronted by 3 solid vocalists. The aim of the band is to cover the aforementioned decades with an unrivalled level of quality. I sourced some of the best musicians on the coast to build the most formidable cover band in the country. Our favourite wedding set list comprises of some classic rock, along with 80s and 90s hits, some classic floorfillers and the inevitable smoochy ballad. We even cover a set of traditional Irish numbers, thanks to my experience playing Irish weddings over the last decade and a half.

This eclectic set includes covers of artists such as Bruno Mars, Queen, U2, The Weeknd and Cee Lo Green, amongst many others.

Midnight Mechanics is the ultimate rock band for your private event. We pride ourselves on being professional where it counts whilst avoiding the typical “Wedding Band” cliches. We love what we do and, having played in weddings and private events since 2011, we have sufficient experience to ensure you a memorable night.

This high-energy rock trio plays a carefully selected set of pop and rock covers by artists such as Bryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Oasis, AC/DC and Stevie Wonder, amongst many others. You can see our latest sample set list by clicking the link below the band’s logo.

The band members pride themselves on being reliable and punctual, which is seriously important to ensure your day runs as smoothly as possible. When you book Midnight Mechanics, you are getting the band for the entire day. What this means is that if the performance starts at 9:00pm but you and your guests will be in the room for the evening meal from 6:00pm, you need not worry about us walking through your party with equipment. We can be set up and out of your way before you arrive.

Midnight Mechanics were our band for the reception. They were amazing and many of our guests commented that they were the best wedding band they have heard. They played songs for all ages and never left a group out. They had everybody on the floor from the minute they played and created the best atmosphere for a lively Irish bunch . They even got me up to play on the drums which I was shocked at but had so much fun.

We first heard Lee Townsend perform at our friends wedding in 2016. We thought he was brilliant so we booked him for ours. But we also booked his band, Midnight Mechanics for Yupi bar. They were incredible. Lee is such a sweet guy playing acoustic guitar on the beach. But then he turns into a rockstar with the band. Our guests loved them and were blown away!

They had the crowd up from start to finish and got everyone involved they had the bridesmaid do mustang sally, they had me play the drums (which I don’t play ha) and they let Graham up to do a song it was such good craic they were amazing Lee has the best voice around!

We had midnight mechanics, they were UNREAL!!!! Our guests couldn’t compliment us enough on them. Their talent is out of this world and they were an all rounder band suiting everybody! Lee Townsend is so talented, his voice is amazing! They had me and the bridesmaids up doing backing vocals and the drummer even brought me up and had me drumming to seven nation’s army by the white stripes! Nobody left the dance floor.

The Box Drum Band was created to bridge the gap between my solo set and Midnight Mechanics. For quite some time, the only acts I could supply were either the fairly heavy sound of Midnight Mechanics or a solo performance of a more mainstream pop playlist. I started receiving requests for the songs in my solo set list but played with a full band to make it more lively than a cocktail reception.

Like Midnight Mechanics, I chose the band members for The Box Drum Band very carefully. Their reliability and punctuality are as much of an asset to the band as their ability to perform the show.

One of the main things we pride ourselves on are our vocal harmonies. Having 3 voices is something we’d never had before The Box Drum Band, so it’s been really nice to be able to see what we can add to the songs we choose to play. Our repertoire consists of a fairly eclectic mix from The Beatles, Traveling Wilburys and Eric Clapton to Oasis, Paolo Nutini and George Ezra. We had the Box Drum Band play at our reception. They were absolutely brilliant. Lee interacted very well with the crowd and had everyone in great spirits. We were still eating when the band were due to start, it made no difference. Everyone was up dancing at the tables and ran in to the middle for a dance in between the courses. The dance floor was not empty once and everyone enjoyed every song that was played. Even the guests at the hotel enjoyed the music as nearly all the balconies were full of hotel guests, siting and dancing to the music! As we danced the evening away, we just enjoyed every moment in our bubble with guests. All the guests were so complimentary of how good the band was and enjoyed every song.

Very cool band. Really great set list we added a few requests and they learned one or two . Had loads people up dancing after meal and got the party started for sure. Profesional supplier , great singers , excellent musicians and let's not forget that box drum, VERY COOL! Really great band!

As a solo artist, I have been working on building my reputation locally for the last 10 years. In incorporate my “Loop Pedal” into my live show which allows me to record parts of a song “on the fly” and then play over the top of it, meaning I can accompany myself using just my guitar and my voice. If you are considering booking me and are using a wedding planner, please contact them direct and enquire about my services through them. The wedding planners I work for get special deals from me when booking a package. For example, if you were to book me for your ceremony and later, my band for your evening party, your wedding planner can apply a discount for you.

I am fully legal to work as a self-employed musician in Spain and am registered as “autonomo”. This is a vital part of working in Spain as failure to comply with the regulations can result not only with a fine for me and the venue, it would also mean that if there was an inspection, I would be shut down with immediate effect. I keep all of my paperwork up to date so that you have nothing to worry about.

We booked Lee very last minute for our drink reception as initially we were going to play music from our phone however we seen Lee on Instagram two weeks before at our venue and he was brilliant so we got in touch very last minute and booked him! We didn't regret it! Lee was brilliant and all of our guests said how fantastic he was. He made it such a good atmosphere and when we arrived at our venue, the drinks reception was in full swing and it was a lovely memory walking in to Lee playing and seeing all of our guests. We wouldn't hesitate to book him again he was fantastic, and such a lovely person too!

Lee - you were perfect. The songs you sang fitted our setting so well. We will never forget the moment I walked down the aisle to one of our favourite songs. Everyone loved their time eating canapés on top of the terrace listening to you sing and play the guitar! At one point, I looked around and thought - it doesn’t get better than this! It was wonderful and we are so so glad we chose you to sing during our ceremony. Thank you also for learning a new song that was very difficult with it usually being two singers who sing it! You sang it exactly as we wanted. We couldn’t have wished for anyone better for our ceremony.

Incredible musician and we cannot recommend him highly enough! Lee is absolutely quality and we’re so lucky to have had him play for our wedding celebrations. We got married in July and we had Lee playing for our drinks reception on the day of the wedding and for our day 2! Music is such a key part at a wedding celebration, it sets the tone for the day and brings guests together. He has a huge selection of songs, from romantic background tunes, to smash hits where he will have your entire wedding party on their feet singing shoulder to shoulder. The addition of the loop pedal was amazing and our guests are still talking about how much fun he added to the party! For our reception, Lee Townsend played. What a talent! Amazing voice. Lee started playing as we were eating dessert which was a perfect time, it fitted in so nicely and really set a nice vibe on the evening. He gets people up for a dance and everyone loved him! Not only is he extremely talented but such a lovely guy. So down to earth.

Our second musician for the day was Lee Townsend. Lee played for us (at Hotel Balcón de Europa) just after the speeches and all the way up until we left for our after party in Rey Alfonso later in the night. Lee was incredible. He really got the crowd going with fun, upbeat songs. He created a fantastic atmosphere for our guests, everyone was having a ball. Some of our favourite videos on the GoPro involve Lee playing for our guests, everyone up dancing and having a great time.

During the ceremony and drinks reception we had Lee Townsend playing… WOW, amazing!! Lee had sent us a song list well in advance for us to choose any songs which we wanted him to play, we decided that he would know best and told him to play whatever he thought would best suit the mood/people on the day – I think every single guest at some point asked where we had found him, again something that we couldn’t have done without Sonya! Even someone staying in the apartment across the street shouting over and asked one of the guests who was singing. We will definitely be looking out for Lee playing at any gigs the next time we are in Nerja.

We saw Lee play at a couple of venues at least a year before we got married. When we eventually decided on our wedding date and venue we both immediately knew that we wanted Lee to be there to provide the music for the evening. Not only did Lee entertain our guests throughout the evening, he learned and sang our walking out song at the ceremony itself and he complied with our unusual request of (after specifically learning it first) singing and playing the guitar to the tune of The Proclaimers (500 miles) on the walk from the ceremony back to the venue – sounds odd I know but it was a unbelievably massive and totally unexpected hit for the day, everyone immediately joined in singing along, even the locals who came out their houses to join in, it put a smile on everyone´s faces and set the tone for the rest of the day. My husband and I cannot rate Lee highly enough, he is absolutely fantastic and was a crucial part of making our wedding the absolutely perfect day it was. All of our guests absolutely loved him and felt the same way.

Ask anyone who is a regular to Nerja about a band that can get a crowd going and they will tell you about Midnight Mechanics and their lead singer Lee Townsend. What a voice! We booked Lee for signing solo during our 1.5hrs on the roof top reception at San Juan Torres. Seriously, I get goose bumps even thinking about it. Between the stunning views, the amazing company and his singing, it was just fab. I actually heard a few guests moaning when he had to stop and we went inside for the meal. They were happy to sit and listen to him all night ha! But to their delight, when we went to the nightclub after the meal Lee had joined his band; Midnight Mechanics to serenade us for a few more hours.

Our real scoop of the evening was a person that our guests are still talking about, and that is Lee Townsend. What an amazing guitar player and singer – it is truly like listening to Ed Sheeran. We had only heard some songs on Youtube, live from Frigiliana, and we were sure that we had found our live performance for the evening. And we were right! Highly recommended!

For entertainment we had Lee Townsend who was brilliant. We had originally seen Lee on previous visits to Nerja and while he was always good we couldn’t get over how talented he had become since we saw him last. Everyone in our party (musicians included) commented to us on how good he was. He really is such a talent and we regretted not booking him for the wedding day itself.

The scenery was amazing, the sunshine was amazing the music from Lee Townsend was amazing and looking around I just could not believe that all these people were here for me. It was spectacular! The cava reception was on at the Toboso roof terrace which was absolutely gorgeous. We had Lee sing there and he is fantastic, he really set a great atmosphere for everyone and he has a wonderful voice.

Aside from performing live, I can also supply any sound equipment which you may need to ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. 

Instead of booking me solely to perform during your drinks reception and with my band for your evening entertainment, why not let me handle the sound for your entire day? I can supply sound systems to play your own Spotify playlist during your wedding dinner and can also provide wireless microphones for your speeches. 

Maybe you have a musician in the family and would like them to sing you down the aisle. If this is the case, there’s no need to have them pay expensive airline fees to book their guitar onto the flight. You can hire all gear you’ll need from me and I’ll even get to the venue early to set it up for you.
